Forum rules
This forum is where people who use KodHisar products help each other and get help from the team. A few rules make that easier for everyone.
Be respectful
Everyone started somewhere. Do not belittle a question; discuss the problem, not the person. Posts with insults, contempt, discriminatory language or harassment are not published, and accounts that keep at it are blocked.
Share no personal data or secrets
Everything in the forum is public and may show up in search engines. Never post:
- passwords, API keys, access tokens, licence keys, session cookies
- your server's IP address, SSH/FTP connection details, the address of your control panel
- your own or anyone else's email address, phone number or postal address
None of these is needed to help you. If the team needs something private, it will ask for it separately, not in the forum.
Mask your logs
Before sharing a log or a screenshot, replace what is in it:
- IP addresses with an example such as
203.0.113.10 - domain names with
example.com - user names with
user - remove password and key lines entirely
Put long logs in a code block (open and close it with three backticks at the start of a line); the lines around the error are usually enough.
No advertising
Promotion of products, services or sites, referral links and links unrelated to the topic are not published. Linking to a resource that bears directly on the question is of course fine.
Posts appear after approval
New topics and replies are published once someone from the team has read and approved them. If your post does not show up at once, it is not lost; it is waiting in the queue. Posts that break these rules are not published, or are published with the personal details taken out.
A good question
- Choose the right category and put the problem in the title (not "Help!" but "SFTP connection drops during key verification").
- Give the product's version, your operating system, and what you did, step by step.
- Separate what you expected from what happened instead.
- If you found the answer yourself, post it in the topic; the next reader will thank you.
Announcements
Only the team posts in Announcements, and replies are closed there. If you have a question about an announcement, start a topic in the product's category.
Security problems
If you think you have found a security problem, do not post it in the forum; report it to security@kodhisar.com.
